Structural Materials
Already 40% stiffer than ABS, Onyx provides the foundation for Markforged’s ™ 3D printed advanced composites materials. It can be printed on its own or reinforced with any of four continuous fibres. Suitable un-reinforced for proof of concept components, Jigs & Fixtures etc.
In three-point bending, our 3D printed carbon fiber is 8x stronger than ABS and 20% stronger than the yield strength of aluminum. Suitable for most structural applications to replace machined Aluminium components
Kevlar is 8x more impact resistant than ABS while remaining 15–20% lighter than our other reinforcement fibers suitable for high impact components or reinforced wear plates on jigs and fixtures
HSHT fiberglass has a heat deflection temperature of 150° C.
Suitable for high-temperature applications and injection mold tooling trials
3D printed fiberglass is 11x more rigid than ABS and 26x more rigid than nylon. Suitable for structural components at a slightly cheaper cost to replace Aluminium
Geometric Materials
Already 40% stiffer than ABS, Onyx provides the foundation for Markforged’s™ 3D printed advanced composites materials. It can be printed on its own or reinforced with any of four continuous fibres. Suitable un-reinforced for proof of concept components, Jigs & Fixtures etc.
Cost Effective material for functional proof of concept, strength similar to ABS with a lower service temperature, bio-degradable.
Soft urethane rubber-like material suitable for cushioning or gripping features, can be incorporated into structural designs as separate bonded or clipped features.
Testing
DDSC&P have conducted our own series of tensile tests to prove that the 3D printed fiber reinforced materials from MarkForged™ are of the highest quality and are indeed stronger and lighter than 6001-grade Aluminum
Note:
- 400MPa was achieved with uni-directional continuous fiber.
- The printing process builds layers of material like a plywood.
- Strength is strongest with the grain but not as strong cross-grain
- For critical components testing is essential.
